Join the New South Institute (NSI) and Afrospectives for a virtual discussion on “The Stakes and Challenges ofRevalorizing African Endogenous Systems of Governance and Justice”.This webinar will feature a presentation of the new book“Beyond Mimicry: The Potential of African Endogenous Governance Systems,” edited by Prof. Augustin F. C. Holl and Ali Moussa Iye, and bring together African scholars,decision-makers, and practitioners to discuss how traditional governance philosophies and practices caninspire modern governance reform.Speakers will explore how African endogenous perspectives can inspire innovative responses to contemporary governance crises across the continent, and will discuss the practical challenges of integrating these approaches within diverse political and legal contexts.

Objectives

  1. Cultural Exploration: Contribute to the development of knowledge on ancient relations between Africa and China, emphasizing the cultural exchanges between Africa and China along the Silk Road.

  2. Historical Contextualization: Place current relationships between Africa and China in a historical perspective, fostering a nuanced understanding of shared histories.

  3. Intercultural Dialogue: Better understand  intercultural dialogue between Chinese and African peoples throughout history, identifying cultural similarities and differences.

  4. Foster Mutual Understanding: Contribute to the mutual understanding, and respect between African and Chinese peoples by appreciating their shared heritage.
